Quality Control & Certifications

JS Machine & Valve operates under established industry standards to support valve repair services, pressure testing, and quality control requirements across refining, power generation, and pipeline applications. Our certifications and procedures ensure repaired valves are inspected, tested, and documented to meet performance expectations before returning to service.

Asset Management & Real-Time Repair Reporting

A web dashboard for HF Services displays colorful modules for On Site Testing, On Site Decontamination, and 751 Pop Testing, along with sections for export, review, and configuration options.

JS Machine & Valve’s proprietary asset management program gives customers full visibility into every valve in their scope — not just when the job is done, but throughout the entire repair process, around the clock.

Real-Time Repair Inspection Reports

Every valve is tracked through a digital QA/QC traveler that captures disassembly findings, dimensions, parts replaced, PMI data, weld maps, heat treat records, test results, and before-and-after photography, all tied to the valve ID. Customers can review inspection and test findings in real time through an online cloud portal, without waiting for a final package to be delivered at the end of the TA.

Customizable Pass/Fail Criteria

Testing standards are built around your requirements, not generic defaults. Pass/fail thresholds are configurable by valve type, size, and test type — so the system flags what matters to your site, not just what meets the industry minimum. Inspector decisions and comments are captured and visible in the cloud alongside the test data.

Full Scope Visibility Across the TA

Managers have real-time visibility across the full turnaround scope through the web-based app — tracking which valves have been inspected, tested, reviewed, and cleared. Historical repair records are accessible for every valve that has gone through the JS system, supporting pre-TA planning and lessons-learned reviews for the next cycle.

A web page titled “Valve Test Acceptance Criteria” displays a table with yellow, green, and pink sections explaining review ratings. The table lists test results for gate and globe valves, with options to edit each entry.

A digital inspection form for a valve is displayed on a tablet screen. Sections include overall valve, valve tag, and end flanges with checkboxes, images of valve parts, and notes about inspection status and findings.

    Pre-Test Inspection

A web-based valve testing interface displays Shell Test and Low Pressure Seat sections, both marked as failed, showing test details, issues, and a red “Testing Completed” button at the bottom.

    Live Test Data
Test results recorded and graded in real time.

A computer screen shows a webpage for Standard Operating Procedures with sections for J-S Machine & Valve SOPs and Customer SOPs, displaying SOP cards with download and view buttons, and red Upload SOP buttons.

MSS SP-61 – Pressure Testing of Steel Valves

Logo with the letters MSS in bold black font, overlapping a blue outline of a globe and a partial blue oval. The text Since 1924 appears below MSS.

    What It Covers

Manufacturers Standardization Society SP-61 defines requirements for pressure testing of steel valves, including shell and seat testing to verify structural integrity and sealing performance.

    Why It Matters

Pressure testing is a critical step in confirming that repaired valves can withstand operating conditions and maintain proper isolation.

    How JS Applies It

    • Shell and seat testing of repaired valves
    • Verification of sealing performance under pressure
    • Integration with final inspection and documentation

National Board "VR" Stamp - Valve Repair

Black letters V and R are creatively combined in a bold, stylized font within a white rectangular background and a black border.

    What It Covers

The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors “VR” Stamp certifies organizations to repair pressure relief valves in accordance with controlled procedures and documented quality systems.

    Why It Matters

This certification ensures pressure relief valve repairs are performed under strict guidelines for safety, accuracy, and traceability.

    How JS Applies It

    • Repair and testing of pressure relief valves
    • Controlled procedures and documentation for each repair
    • Compliance with National Board requirements for safety devices

National Board “R” Stamp – Repair & Alteration Certification

A bold letter R is centered within a decorative border made of curved lines, resembling petals or brackets. A registered trademark symbol (®) appears in the upper right corner.

    What It Covers

The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors “R” Certificate of Authorization applies to the repair and alteration of pressure-retaining equipment, including valves, in accordance with the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC).

    Why It Matters

This certification ensures that repair work on pressure-containing components is performed under a controlled quality system, with oversight, documentation, and verification required for compliance and safety.

    How JS Applies It

    • Repair and alteration of pressure-retaining valve components
    • Execution of work under documented quality control procedures
    • Coordination with authorized inspection agencies
    • Full documentation and traceability for repair activities
